CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR NATURAL DISASTER REDUCTION AND E-WASTE MANAGEMENT FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024 -25 

      THEME: Empowering the Next Generation for a Resilient Future

The celebration of International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction and E-Waste Management was organised to raise awareness about the growing predicament of unprecedented natural disasters and to promote responsible e-waste management system. The primary goal of this event was to educate the future generation about the importance of these critical issues.

Class VIII had the honour of hosting this significant event. The programme began with the recitation of the 'Gayatri Mantra,' followed by the D.A.V Gaan, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings. Our dynamic young comperes, Sai Charan of VIII B and Gautham A. of VIII D, expertly guided the audience through the event.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Hariharasudhan of VIII-D, who set the stage for the day's activities. Ms. Shenbaga Priya, the Class VIII coordinator, introduced the Chief Guest,   Mr. Gopi Kannan Lakshmanan, by highlighting his notable achievements. She mentioned his current role as a Senior Engineering Geologist at Geoconsult Group, emphasizing his expertise and contributions to the field.

Following this, our budding authors from Class VIII delivered speeches on the importance of commemorating this day, emphasizing the significance of the cause. The event continued with an informative and engaging talk show presented by the enthusiastic students of Classes V and VI, who shared their insights on e-waste management.

Understanding through demonstration was a key feature of the event. Students from Classes VII and VIII showcased the advantages and disadvantages of e-waste management using flashcards and presented a working model entirely made of e-waste, demonstrating innovative recycling methods.

An interactive session led by students of Class IX focused on the recent Wayanad landslides, discussing their causes and implications, which added a real-world context to the day's theme.

The event culminated with an insightful address by our Chief Guest, who shared his experiences and discussed future government initiatives aimed at tackling these critical issues.

The celebration concluded on a patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by the chanting of Shanti Paat, leaving the audience inspired and informed about the future of India.
