INVESTITURE CEREMONY - 2025

Student Council of D. A. V. Public School Sworn in

18 Office Bearers of the Student Council for the Academic Year 2025-26 were Sworn in on   30^th June, 2025 at D. A. V. Public School, Velachery, Chennai.

Dr. Vijaya Ravichandran, Scientist - G, Project Head Sea Front Development, Project Manager- Coastal and Environmental Engineering, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Chennai and Member, School Managing Committee presided over the Ceremony. The Regional Officer, Smt. Minoo Aggarwal graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The Principal, Mrs. Sujatha M joined the dignitaries in the Formal Ceremony.

49 Students from Std XI and XII self-nominated themselves for the 16 Cabinet Posts. After a grueling Interview, 41 Contestants were shortlisted. It was followed by two days of soliciting votes and overexcited campaigning with the ‘Manifesto Run’. The students of Std IX – XII cast their valuable votes to decide on the winning candidates. 16 Candidates were elected and the two New Posts for Club Secretary and Club Coordinator were instituted.

The Ceremonial Pinning of the Badges, handing over of the paraphernalia and the Ceremonial Parade marked the Statute of the Order while the roaring applause of the spectators cheered the Council Members.   The drum beat and the peppy music energised the audience and   brought back nostalgic memories to the Grandparents and Parents and ecstasy to the students of Std. IX to XII. The Class Committee Members of Class VII to XII also received the badges.

Baranidharan S, School Pupil Leader (Boys) administered the Oath of Allegiance and was joined by the Cabinet members to express their solidarity and integrity as they take on their duties.  

In the Presidential Address, Dr. Vijaya said, “Leadership is all about taking initiative and inspiring people to take the lead”. She added that Leadership is not about Power but it is about standing the ground till the end and being there for the Team. She narrated anecdotes from the ‘Mahabharata’, ‘Chanakya Neethi’and ‘Bhagavad Gita’ to drive home that, “A good Leader prioritises the wellbeing of their people, acts with integrity and makes timely decisions”.

Smt. Minoo Aggarwal   shared her experiences as a Leader and said, “A Leader is like a Gardener who nurtures, nourishes and pays attention to each blossom”.

In the Voice of the Council, Baranidharan S expressed his views on “Effective Leaders who Inspire, Guide and Motivate others while upholding values.”

P C Sahasra, School Pupil Leader (Girls) shed light on, “Cultivating a mindset of thankfulness to increase happiness, improve wellbeing and build stronger relationships.” In a short speech, Assistant School Pupil Leader Boys, Shashank Hari Krishnan stressed on “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”

 Sports Captain, Irfan F, gave valuable inputs on, “Sports, that forms an integral part of one's school experience, shapes one's physical wellbeing and Character and Teamwork.”

The Assistant School Pupil Leader (Girls), Suhasini G proposed the Vote of Thanks on behalf of the School Cabinet and profusely thanked the Student Community for their wholesome participation in the Student Council Elections.
