REPUBLIC DAY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2024 -25
The Republic Day celebrations at our school on January 26, 2025, were a resounding success, reflecting the spirit of patriotism and unity among students and staff. The event took place in the school assembly ground from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., featuring a series of well-organized programmes that highlighted the significance of this important day in India's history. The event was anchored by a talented group of Class IX students. Their enthusiasm and confidence set a vibrant tone for the proceedings.
The celebrations commenced with a warm welcome address by Akshara of IX E. She greeted the attendees, including the Chief Guest, the Principal, teachers, parents and students. In her welcome note, she emphasized the importance of Republic Day as a celebration of India's democratic values and constitutional rights.
A significant highlight of the morning was the unfurling of the National Flag. The Chief Guest, Mr. Anish Kumar, a retired Petty Officer and Instructor of Underwater Weapons in the Indian Navy, along with the Principal Ms. Sujatha M., performed this ceremonial act. The audience stood in reverence as the flag was raised high, symbolizing our national pride and unity.
Following the unfurling, the choir group sang two patriotic songs, ‘Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyaara...’ in Hindi and ‘Thayin Manikodi Pareer....’ in Tamil. The students' voices resonated with emotion and pride, creating an atmosphere filled with national fervour.
The profile of the Chief Guest was presented to the audience by Ms. Mithilaa S, the teacher of English. This introduction highlighted his distinguished career in the Indian Navy and his contributions to the nation.
The pre-primary students blazed the stage with their dance performance titled ‘Rhythms and Words of Young Patriots’. Their innocent yet powerful expressions showcased their understanding of patriotism through songs and dances that celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage.
Sanchita Soumyadarshini from Class VII delivered an insightful speech titled ‘The Role of the Constitution of India’. She elaborated on how the Constitution serves as the backbone of our democracy, ensuring justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens.
Class VI students, presented a cultural treat titled ‘A Tapestry of Traditions, One Stage, Many Languages’. This segment beautifully illustrated India’s diversity through traditional dances and songs from various states, promoting unity in diversity - the core principle enshrined in our constitution.
Class IX students performed ‘Harmony's Embrace’, a dance-drama that depicted various cultural elements coming together to form a cohesive whole. Continuing with their artistic expression, Class IX students presented ‘Bharat Ki Nayi Dhun’ a musical piece that celebrated contemporary India while honouring its rich traditions. The performance was lively and engaging, showcasing the talents of our students.
The Principal Ms. Sujatha M. addressed the gathering in which she spoke about the significance of Republic Day in fostering a sense of responsibility among citizens towards their nation. She also appreciated the students who had enrolled as Scouts and Guides and also mentioned that she would also introduce NCC in the school which will help students to receive training and join the Army, Navy and Air-force in the future. Her inspiring words encouraged students to embody the values enshrined in our Constitution and to contribute positively to society.
The Chief Guest delivered an inspiring speech that reverberated deeply with everyone present. He shared personal anecdotes from his time in service and highlighted the importance of patriotism and dedication to one’s duties as citizens of India. His words served as a motivating force for all students to aspire for excellence in their respective fields.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Shreyanshi Anand. The Republic Day celebrations were not only an opportunity to commemorate our nation's constitution but also a platform for showcasing students’ talent and fostering national pride.
Overall, it was a memorable day filled with joy, learning, and reflection on what it means to be an Indian citizen in today's world.
