Quit India Day Celebration - 2025

D.A.V. Public School, Velachery, observed Quit India Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on August 8, 2025. Organized by Std. X and the Public Speaking Club, the event brought together a series of engaging programs designed to spark national pride and remind students of the power of unity.

The programme was anchored gracefully by Akshaya Lekshmi of Std. X C and Jiya Saraswati Suresh of Std. X E, whose confidence and charm set the tone for the day. The event began with a heartfelt prayer that created a solemn atmosphere, followed by the opening Address by Anagha R of Std. X B. In her words, she highlighted the importance of Quit India Day as not only a historic milestone but also a reminder of the courage and sacrifice that continue to inspire generations.

The theme of the day was brought alive through the inspiring speeches by Koushik Sethuraman of  Std. X E and Saanvi Rakesh of Std. X A. Their addresses went beyond historical details and sought to stir the hearts of their peers. Koushik spoke about the extraordinary courage of the 1942 generation, urging students to carry forward the same resilience in meeting the challenges of the present. Saanvi reminded the gathering that India’s freedom was not secured by leaders alone, but by countless ordinary men and women who showed extraordinary bravery. Both speakers beautifully linked the Quit India Movement with the present, leaving the audience with the message that the struggle for a stronger and united India continues even today.

One of the most striking segments of the event was the Gallery Walk presented by the students of   Std. X. The hallways were lined with handmade posters and charts that vividly portrayed the lives and struggles of India’s freedom fighters. What made this exhibition truly engaging was the way students stood by their displays, narrating the sacrifices and hardships faced by the leaders, revolutionaries, and unsung heroes they had researched. Their explanations turned the gallery into a living mural, where history was not only seen but also felt. Many in the audience found themselves deeply moved, realizing that the privileges of freedom enjoyed today were built on the perseverance and sacrifice of those who came before.

The highlight of the celebration was the tableau, Azaadi ki Awaaz, performed by the students of Std. IX. With colourful costumes and carefully crafted props, the performers recreated stirring moments from the Quit India Movement. Each scene unfolded through powerful freeze poses, accompanied by short narrations that gave voice to farmers, women and other ordinary citizens who played their extraordinary part in the struggle. The simplicity of the performance, combined with the strength of its message, brought alive the spirit of 1942 in a way that was both moving and memorable. The tableau reminded everyone that the freedom movement was not just led from the top, but was carried forward by the courage and determination of common people.

The programme drew to a close with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Yuvan Pradosh of Std. X B, followed by a reflective silence that left the message of the day lingering in the minds of the audience: Unity is the heart of our nation; let us keep it strong. The event not only celebrated history but also left every student inspired to honour the spirit of freedom in their daily lives. It was truly a memorable day, one that strengthened the bond of patriotism and togetherness among the students of Classes IX and X.
