WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY- 2022

The United Nations designated the 5^th day of June as World Environment Day in the 1972 Stockholm Conference on Human Environment. To commemorate this, the World Environment Day was observed at our School on 20^th June 2022 to remind humanity the importance of sustainable living in harmony with nature.

The first onstage commemoration of an International Day during the Academic Year 2022-23 was hosted by the students of Class X on the year’s theme- ‘Only One Earth’. The eventful day commenced with the DAV Gaan followed by the soulful chanting of divine Gayatri Mantra.

Dr. Marigoudar, Scientist C, from National Centre for Coastal Research, Ministry of Earth Sciences, NIOT Campus, Velachery, Chennai presided over the formal proceedings of the Special Occasion.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Marigoudar spoke on the conservation of nature. He advised the students to make use of ecofriendly products to save our planet Earth. He further stressed on the significance of protecting Earth by saying Only One Earth- Care and Share.

The Significance of observing the World Environment Day and the theme for the celebration of this year’s Environment Day was enunciated by Surya Narayanan. S in the Introduction Speech.

The Powerful World Environment Day Anthem – ‘Only One Earth’ was a musical treat by the students of Class X that enthralled the audience.

The students of Class VIII planted the saplings in the school campus along with the Chief Guest and the In-charge teachers highlighting the message ‘Plant a sapling today, secure a better and brighter future tomorrow.’

‘Enlightening Pearls- Talk Show’ by the students of Class XII threw light on the impact of the pandemic on the environment. Time Line by Grade Nine students traced the Chronology of Nature Conservation from the inception of World Environment Day in the year 1972 to the 50^th Year of its celebration in 2022. A Foot tapping Thematic Dance performance by the students of Class X mesmerized the audience and sensitised them on the bounties of nature and the urgent need to safeguard our planet.

The programme concluded with the Vote of thanks and Shanti Paat.
