The Pongal celebration programme was conducted with grandeur and enthusiasm, honouring Tamil Nadu's rich cultural heritage and the spirit of vibrant harvest festival. The event showcased the traditional and artistic expressions of Pongal through various captivating performances and engaging activities.
The programme commenced with Gayatri Mantra and a traditional welcome by students of Std II, creating a serene and auspicious beginning. This was followed by an insightful speech explaining the significance of Pongal, which set the tone for the festivities ahead.
The folk dance performed by Std I students infused energy into the celebration, beautifully reflecting the rich traditions of Tamil Nadu and serving as a visual delight for spectators. The Oyilattam performance by Std. III students, adorned in colourful costumes enthralled the audience with their rhythmic and perfectly synchronized movements, symbolizing joy and gratitude.
Adding a unique touch, the Villu Paatu troupe of Std. II narrated engaging stories about the four-day Pongal celebration. Accompanied by traditional instruments, the troupe highlighted tales related to Tamil Nadu's agricultural history and the essence of Pongal, instilling a deep sense of pride and cultural awareness.
A series of traditional dance performances by Std. IV students, including Karagattam, Kaavadi Aatam, and Thappattam, captivated the audience. These vibrant energetic performances beautifully showcased the diversity and cultural richness of Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage, leaving a lasting impression.
One of the highlights of the celebration was a live demonstration of Jallikattu, the traditional bull-taming sport of Tamil Nadu, staged to educate and engage the audience on its cultural significance and historical importance.
The U.K.G. tiny tots and Std VI students charmed the audience with a delightful medley of performances, including an enchanting harvest song that had everyone swaying to the rhythm. Meanwhile, students of class V impressed with their creative talents through a fun and informative skit that emphasised the essence of the Pongal festival and the resilience of farmers. Adding to the celebration, the LKG children dazzled the audience with their lively and energetic shaka laka movements.
The celebrations culminated in a remarkable performance by the Music in Motion group of Class VII, featuring a harmonious blend of song and dance created an apt conclusion to the festivities.
The event concluded with an inspiring address by Mrs. Sujatha, the Principal who commended the students and teachers for their splendid efforts in organizing the event. Small games were also included to ensure active participation from the audience, making the celebration both interactive and enjoyable.
Overall, the Pongal celebration programme was a perfect amalgamation of culture, education, and entertainment, leaving everyone with fond memories and a renewed appreciation for Tamil Nadu's culture and heritage.
