WORLD SCIENCE DAY -  2024 

THEME: WHY SCIENCE MATTERS - ENGAGING MINDS AND EMPOWERING FUTURES

D.A.V. Public School, Velachery observed the World Science Day with scientific fervour and enthusiasm on 08 November 2024. The celebration was hosted by the students of Class Eleventh with an array of informative programmes to develop scientific temper in students. The Masters of Ceremonies, Sharen Deepti of XI A and Apoorva Soundararajan of XI C, shouldered the responsibility of anchoring the entire show.

The momentous day commenced with the blissful chanting of divine Gayathri Mantra followed by the DAV Gaan. The Welcome Address was delivered by Karishmaa and Leela Hanshika of XI E highlighting the significance of celebrating the World Science Day. The theme of this year’s World Science Day, ‘Why Science Matters- Engaging Minds and Empowering Futures’ was well brought out by Varshini. K of XI A.

The eleventh graders in their programme ‘Einstein’s Escape Enigma’, in order to find the key of the Escape Room to free themselves, solved five different scientific challenges in a creative way. They recounted that Science as a force for peace, development and sustainability. A scientific working model of Vacuum Cleaner was designed and demonstrated by Vishwa of Class XI B at the end of the programme.

The ninth graders in their programme ‘Sustainable Lifestyle’ not only enlightened the audience about a few common errors that people commit in their daily life and their hazardous effects but also gave proper scientific solutions to those misconceptions.

Overall, the thought provoking and entertaining programme presented by Classes IX and XI transported the audience to the world of imagination depicting the significance of science in everyday life. The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks and Shanti Paat.

The day was highly edifying and drove home the message “Science is a beautiful gift to humanity; we should not distort it”.
