D.A.V. PUBLIC SCHOOL, VELACHERY, CHENNAI ADJUDGED NATIONAL CHAMPION -
FIRST RUNNER UP IN "BEHTAR VATAVARAN" CATEGORY
The Pan India 'Cleanliness Mission' - Behtar India Campaign 2018-19 culminated with the Grand Finale Award Ceremony held at Taj Palace, New Delhi on 28th February, 2019.
The Nationwide Campaign was launched by DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Co Ltd., in association with Republic TV and Charitable Aid Foundation (CAF) to create 'cleaner, greener and healthier cities'. The innovative campaign focussed on 'Young India' - students from all over the country as the catalysts to accelerate the movement and sensitise all segments of the society on environmental consciousness.
The Campaign opened a 3 tier challenge to all the participating schools namely Behtar Vatavaran, Behtar Swachhta and Behtar Swasthya.
Our school participated in all the social initiatives launched by the organisers spread through the entire Academic Year 2018 - 19.
A visit to Egmore Museum was organised as part of the Behtar Swachhta Rally. The students of Std. IX helped in the upkeep of the surroundings of the Museum and interacted with the team of workers.
An Art Exhibition was organised in the School premises to raise funds to procure Dengue Protection Kits for underprivileged children and ensure Behtar Swasthya. The funds were utilised to provide Dengue Protection Kits to 250 children from backward communities.
A phenomenal 36,286 kilograms of newspaper was contributed by the School in the Behtar Vatavaran Campaign. This earned the School 32,860 points and was ranked Second at the National Level under the Behtar Vatavaran category. The points tally also adjudged the school as No. 1 - Topmost Contributor at the Regional Level.
The School was presented the coveted Silver Trophy at the hands of Campaign Ambassador and Bollywood Actress Ms. Parineeti Chopra and Anoop Pabby, CEO and Managing Director, DHFL Pramerica Life Insurance Co Ltd., at the glitzy Award Ceremony held at the National Capital.
The title National Responsible Educator (Vatavaran) was awarded to the Principal, Mrs.Minoo Aggarwal for outstanding community service rendered through the year long initiatives taken up by Team DAV to promote environmental awareness, respect and protect our Natural Environment as a habit and practice and not as a mere duty.
