CELEBRATION OF ‘MATRIBHASHA DIWAS’

INTERNATIONAL MOTHER  LANGUAGE DAY ON 21^st FEBRUARY, 2020

• To Promote the dissemination of Mother Tongue and creating an awareness of Linguistic and Cultural Traditions throughout the World for celebration of “Matribhasha Diwas” an initiative of CBSE, New Delhi in accordance with UNESCO – was taken forward by DAV Public School, Chennai on 21/02/2020.
• As a part of the Celebration, a Special Assembly was conducted wherein ‘Reading of the Constitution’s Preamble in Matribhasha’ – ‘TAMIL’ was taken up. Students were keen to understand the meaning of the word Preamble in their mother tongue. Three students delivered speech on the significance of celebrating Matribhasha Diwas and its objectives.
• Senior students presented Folk Song in their mother tongue – ‘TAMIL’ – signifying the beauty and its culture.
• was conducted on the topic “Need to Encourage One’s Own Mother Tongue”. The debate brought out the innate talents of the students in understanding and encouraging not only the use of Mother Tongue but other Indian languages as well. They emphasized that ‘Tamil’ is undoubtedly the best language in the world because of its simple Alphabetic System, Pronunciation and Rich literature. A Classical language that still stands relevant, Tamil language has given birth to many dialects and languages.
• Essay Writing Competition was conducted on the topic “Highlighting the Linguistic Diversity of our country” emphasizing that language is the most advanced form of communication.
• India is one of the most religiously and ethnically diverse nations in the World – keeping this in mind a ‘Drawing Competition’ was conducted on the topic “Diversity of Cultures in India”. Students brought out their creative expression of Arts and crafts through this competition.  
• Quiz Competition was conducted on the topic “The Cultural Heritage of India”.
• As a culmination of the Programme, The Principal, Mrs. Minoo Aggarwal encouraged the students to learn the beauty and uniqueness of Mother Language – ‘Tamil’. She appreciated the students for their efforts and involvement in all competitions.
