PONGAL CELEBRATIONS - 2023
Pongal Celebrations at our School was conducted on January 10, 2023. Students of Std. V, VI and VII attended the celebration. The campus wore a festive look with Painted Pots and Rangoli drawn near the assembly stage. Sugarcane which symbolises Pongal adorned the stage.
The function began with the Gayatri Mantra. The Welcome Speech was given by Niveditha Arvind of Std. V-B. The cultural events began with a tribal dance by the students of Std. V. They depicted Pongal Celebrations at the “Anaimalai Hills”. The Performance was awesome and the audience enjoyed it a lot.
The Students of Std. VI gave a Stupendous performance on different sports being played during Pongal through dance. Silambam which is a martial art form and other folk dances like kararagattam, oyilattam were depicted beautifully by the students. The highlight of the programme was Jallikattu, a traditional event during Pongal was thoroughly enjoyed by one and all. The students were also dressed in traditional costumes which were a feast to the eyes.
The Students of Std. VII gave a speech about how Pongal is celebrated on the four different days. The customs and traditions that are followed on the four different days were explained in detail by the students. This was followed by a dance performance to different Pongal melodies by the students of Std. VII.
The Vote of thanks was proposed by Raksha of Std. V - E. The cultural programmes were indeed invigorating helped the students to learn about our rich cultural heritage. The Pongal Celebrations at our school were designed in a manner to evoke and expose the students’ inner most talents.
