AWARENESS RALLY ON ROAD SAFETY

The Road Safety Week Observance is initiated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. 31^st National Road Safety Week, was observed from 11^th of January to 17^th January, 2020. The Theme of National Road Safety Week 2020 is SADAK SURAKSHA – JEEVAN RAKSHA.

In Commemoration of Road Safety Week Celebration, TAMILNADU POLICE TRAFFIC WARDENS ORGANISATION, CHENNAI UNIT and ROAD SAFETY PATROL initiated to inculcate discipline and educating traffic management among all the School children to create a new generation of responsible road users from their childhood.

Our School has taken this initiative and organised “Road Safety Rally” on 27^th January 2020 lead by representatives from Road Safety Patrol Warden Organisation – Mr. Sriram, RSP Warden, South Incharge and Mr.Sathish Kumar, RSP Warden along with 225 students of Std. IX and Std. V.

Mr. Sriram, RSP Warden gave an informative lecture to the students highlighting the necessity to follow the traffic rules. He informed that owing to the violation of traffic rules on roads by underage drivers, roads have become very unsafe. He insisted on the need of wearing helmet and seat belts at the time of driving.

Students of DAVPS made an attempt to sensitize students on the importance of safety while driving in two wheelers, four wheelers and walking on roads.

The students have taken part in the Rally carrying placards depicting all effects of Rash Driving, Consequences of not Wearing Helmets, not following Speed Rules and non Wearing of Seat Belts.

The students were accompanied by the RSP Wardens and Teachers of DAVPS. The Rally was flagged off from School till Vijayanagar Signal. Students made human chain near Vijayanagar Signal. They raised slogans and insisted on importance of wearing helmets. They stopped bikers without helmets and asked them to wear it.

The Safety Week insisted students to act responsibly on the road and make roads the safest place to travel.

Young students of today are the visionaries and torch bearers of tomorrow. Thus students had tremendous positive response in this effort.
