ONAM CELEBRATION
Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at our School on 2nd September, 2019. An attractive Floral Rangoli, 'Pookalam', set the mood for the traditional festivity.
A Special Assembly was hosted to celebrate Onam. The students of Std. II to VI presented a special programme highlighting the culture and tradition of Kerala. A speech on Onam by the students of Std. II and V highlighted the legend of Onam that holds the belief that King Mahabali's spirit visits Kerala during Onam.
Students of Std. III performed Thiruvathirakali, a graceful dance which is traditionally performed by the women in Kerala around the Sacred Lamp. It was followed by the 'Onappaatu' by the students of Std. VI. It was mesmerizing to see the young butterflies of Std. IV in the traditional attire performing 'Kaikottikali' with perfect grace which helped transcend boundaries.
Amidst cheers of delight and excitement children learnt the importance of the festival. The Programme ended with the Principal expressing sheer delight in the charm and grace of the festivity.
