National Sports Day was observed on 29th August, 2019 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand Singh, India's Ace Hockey Player.

More than 42 students of Std. VII participated in the special events to mark the National Sports Day.

The Programme kick started on a bright note with young sports lovers taking to the stage in their sports gear along with the paraphernalia. The opening scene simulated a 'warm up' in every sense of the word.

A 'Sportopedia' of India's forgotten sports legends was discussed by the eloquent speakers of Std. VII.

A Special Gallery Walk on the Indian Olympians and their achievements was presented by the students. The special posters designed by students spoke volumes of their contribution to India's Sporting History.

A ravishing dance portrayed the significance of sports in our lives and motivated the sports freaks to tap their talent and bring laurels to the Nation.

The 'Fit India Movement' that was launched at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi by the honourable Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, was live streamed to schools all over the country. This remarkable event was witnessed by the students of Std. VIII - X in the Audio Visual Room along with the Principal, Supervisory In-charges and Teachers.

The event began with a Welcome Address by the Sports Minister of India Mr.Kiren Rijiju. Dignitaries from different walks of life graced the function. Colourful cultural events by talented dancers, exponents of various martial arts and sportspersons marked the event. The dances extolled the rich culture, heritage and different sports of India that included inherently the value of fitness.

In his address to the Nation, Shri. Narendra Modi talked about how various gadgets have made the people slave to them and how this has robbed them of their fitness. He motivated the students to give up their gadgets and involve in physical activities, games and yoga to achieve excellent fitness. He talked of a 'Fit Nation' that would lead to a 'Better Nation'.

The students were captivated by the beautifully choreographed cultural programmes. They also thoroughly enjoyed the inspiring words of the Prime Minister. They were happy and extremely grateful to our Principal Madam who had given this wonderful opportunity.
