INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY CELEBRATIONS

D.A.V. Public School, Velachery observed the Seventh International Yoga Day with reverence on  21st June 2021 on the digital platform. This first Virtual Celebrations of the Academic Year 2021 was hosted by the students of Std X. The programme revolved around the theme - ‘Yoga for Well-Being -Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family’.

The auspicious day commenced with the divine Gayathri Mantra and the soulful rendition of Yogic Prayer. The Significance of Yoga in improving one’s concentration and in attaining inner peace was enunciated by the student of Class X in the introduction Speech on Yoga.                 

The Protocol Yogasanas by the young Yogis and Yoginis of Classes I to XI along with their family members at their homes highlighted the theme ‘Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family’. The technique of each asana with its health benefits and word of caution was reiterated by the students in the presentation. The Alumni of the School and the present students displayed their proficiency in Advanced Asanas Postures.

The Chief Guest of the day Dr.Elangovan, Professor and Head, Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, Chennai in his address, enlightened the virtual audience about the importance of Planned Diet, Yogic Practices, Meditation and Social Cohesion to activate the biological clock and lead a happy and healthy life.

Dr. Saranya, Naturopathic Consultant, spoke on the Yogic Diet based on the yoga principles of purity (Sattva) and nonviolence (Ahimsa) that would keep one energetic throughout the day and insisted on following veganism, the way of life.

The Yoga Trainer of the School demonstrated step by step the art of practicing Pranayama that would help in controlling individual’s mind, body and soul. The Principal and the staff members took active participation in the celebrations and performed a few asanas which highly motivated the students. The Principal, in her speech, advised the students to practice yoga regularly to improve concentration and flexibility.

The Oath ‘Sankalpa’ was administered by the D.A.V Family in unison gave the assurance that they would commit themselves to do their duty for the promotion of peace, health and harmony.

The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks and Shanti Paat.
