GEETA CHANTING COMPETITION ORGANIZED BY CHINMAYA MISSION
To ensure the augmentation of spiritual health among students, The Chinmaya Mission, Chennai conducts various events, activities and competitions annually. One beautiful flower from this colorful bouquet is the Geeta Chanting Competition (GCC).
A total of 92 students from D.A.V. Public School, Chennai, participated in this competition in various categories. Students were asked to recite Verses 39 to 72 of Chapter 2, Sankhya Yoga for GCC 2021. The competitions were held under Categories A1, A2, B1, B2, C and D. An online preliminary round was conducted in the School from 20th to 26th October 2021. 8 Students were awarded the Gold Medal, 7 with the Silver, and 8 with the Bronze Medal. All the gold medalists were further selected for finals. They were trained by the School’s Hindi Teacher, Mrs. Hema Sarda.
The finals were conducted on 23rd January 2022 on the Zoom platform by GCC. The whole atmosphere vibrated with divine energy with the chanting of blessed participants. The presence of the spiritual mentors, Swami Mitranandji and Swami Sureshanandaji further bolstered up the pious ambience. One could feel the warmth, affection, love and compassion in their holy presence. The words of Pujya Guruji, “Every participant is a winner and winning is just an incident”, made all the 42 participants feel like winners. The real purpose of the event was “all about collaboration; not competition”.
The Award Ceremony was held on 5 February 2022. Rishabh A of LKG bagged the 3rd position in category A1 and Spoorthi Gopi of Std. I stood 3rd in category A2. B Vedhika Sai Sree of Std. II obtained the 3rd position in category A2 while Vibha Ashwin of Std. VI was awarded the Motivational Prize in category B2.
All the children had participated with profound dedication.
We at D.A.V. Public School believe that, inculcating the teachings of the Gita at a young age will improve values in children, increase their memory power, and help in concentration, thus improving their holistic development. Imbibing this ideology, we will strive for better participation and excellent results.
