“Yoga means addition – addition of strength, energy and beauty to mind, body and soul”


Yoga is not just a physical exercise, but a holistic approach to wellness and self-care. D.A.V. Public School has always aspired to cater to the development of individuals' physical, mental, and emotional well-being to lead a more fulfilling life. The 9th International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2023 between 9:30 am and 11:30 am at D.A.V. Public School, Velachery. The Celebration was hosted by the students of Std.VII and laid emphasis on the theme ‘One World One Health’.

The day was dedicated to spreading awareness about the benefits of Yoga and promoting a healthy lifestyle. One aspect of the Yoga way is to provide us techniques to lead a stress-free life. On the other hand, Yoga is also the greatest wealth of mankind.

The auspicious day began with Yoga Prayer. Samyuktha of Std.VII, welcomed the gathering, followed by Mrs. Anuradha Mahadevan, who accorded a hearty welcome and introduced the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr.S.Arumugam, a renowned  Yoga Instructor, Mentor, an awardee of Yoga Kalaimamani,Yoga Boosan and Yoga Dronacharya.

In his address, Dr. S.Arumugam laid emphasis on the importance of a nutritious diet during the day. He insisted everyone to’ Eat water and drink food’. He highlighted on the benefits of consuming healthy food and its effect on our body, soul, and mind.

As a part of the International Yoga Day celebration, our school conducted a chain of advanced yoga asanas on the theme, ‘One World One Health’. Around 76 students from Std.V to XI performed under the guidance of the yoga trainer, Mr. Srinivasan. Vidhya Bhairavi of Std.VII  enlightened the audience on the benefits of Yoga. 

The Students demonstrated various formations, such as Surya Namaskar, Chandra Namaskar, Advance Asana and the G20 formation, ONE EARTH ONE FAMILY ONE FUTURE- VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKKKAM, which was the highlight of the commemoration.   Finally a protocol with General but Important Yogasanas were demonstrated in which Principal of the School Mrs. Minoo Aggarwal, Parents, Teachers and Students participated.

The Principal advised the students and the teaching fraternity to practice yoga regularly to improve concentration and flexibility.

The comperes Siddhartha of Std.VII and Kaushik Ram Maghesh of Std.VII added feathers to the celebration with their presence of thoughts about the event. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sabri Ganesh of Std.VII. The celebration came to an end with a promise to lead a healthy, balanced, and systematic life.
