QUIT INDIA DAY CELEBRATION
“Be the change you wish to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi
Quit India Day, a day which triggered the people of India, who were grappling under the British Raj, commemorates the milestone in the Indian Independence movement. This day catalysed a change in the Indian outlook towards freedom and stands testimony to our forefathers' strength of will and courage.
D.A.V PUBLIC SCHOOL commemorated the 80th year of Quit India Movement, on 6th August 2022.
The Celebration began with invoking the blessings of the Almighty and according a formal welcome to the audience. Students of Class VIII organized a spectacular event on the ‘August Kranti Movement’.
The little flowers of classes VI and VII set the tone for the day with a delightful and endearing ‘Street Play’ in Hindi on the eradication of child labour and gender discrimination. Eighty years after the original Quit India Movement, our students called for these social evils to quit Modern India.
Through the old and crinkly yellow pages of the newspapers, Students of class VIII came up with a discussion on the role of media in mobilizing public awareness and opinion on the Quit India Movement.
Carrying on the momentum, Students of class IX rendered a melodious song on communal harmony that was an important reason for the success of the Quit India Movement. The patriotic piece of music touched everyone’s heart and left a soothing impact.
Inspiring anecdotes in English, Tamil and Hindi on three important Satyagrahis, Vinoba Bhave, Mathange Asra, and Aruna Asaf Ali of the Quit India Movement by the Students of class X kept the audience engrossed.
The assembly culminated with the motivational words by our Supervisory Incharge, Ms.Sujatha.M. She appreciated the well thought out and perfectly executed programmes. The audience was filled with pride and patriotism in remembering the martyrs.
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a Government initiative had a string of activities slated for students to observe the significant day. The activities helped the students and teachers, to look back with respect and admiration on the courage of the great freedom fighters and remember their selfless sacrifice for the wellbeing of the nation.
