United Nations Day commemorates the formation of a new era in history – an era where equality, peace and cooperation are valued above war. The day marks the anniversary of the day when the UN Charter came into force in 1945.

The UN Day Programme was organised in our School on 23rd October 2021, via Google meet; it was live-streamed in School’s YouTube.

The Masters of the Ceremony Lakshanya and Kavyashree of IX-E joyously commenced the day after seeking the blessings of the Almighty through the Gayatri Mantra, recited by Prajna S of IX-A. The gathering was welcomed and a brief introduction about the United Nations was given by Vasundara P of IX -C.

The students of classes VI – IX highlighted the themes of the UN for the year 2021 through an incredible documentary.

  • Year of Fruits and Vegetables by Sweta B of VI-B
  • Elimination of Child Labour Sri Balambigaa S of  VII-B
  • Creative Economy for Sustainable Development - Tanvee S of  VIII-D and Jayanth J of VIII-B
  • International Year of Peace and Trust by Adithiyan Ravikumar and Dharshini S of IX-C

The stirring evolution of  UN – how it overcame so many struggles, to create the world that we all know today were highlighted by Roshini S,Varsha K, Shravya Sriram of IX-C and Dhanvannth of IX-E. The flashback of UN’s evolution neatly put in place every milestone that the UN reached, overcoming darkness with light.

The students of class IX – XII presented the significant Committees of the United Nations and how much it has been flourished since its formation.

♦  UNGA (United Nations General Assembly) by Krrish Kishore of XII-C

    The General Assembly has a great responsibility resting on its shoulders. It overlooks the proper functioning of Subsidiary Organs.

♦   UNSC (United Nations Security Council) by Vimal Sibi of  X-F

     The Security Council is one of the main committees that look into the matters of promoting peace. It formulates plans to establish peace in any war or conflict zone. 

♦   ICJ (International Court of Justice) by Belinda Augustine of XI-D

     The ICJ helps in settling of legal disputes and provides legal advice to member states. 

♦   ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) by Vishnu R of X-F

     ECOSOC was established with the aim of having a financially united world.  It is responsible for promoting higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress. 

♦   UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council) by Maanasaa K of IX C

     The UNHRC's sole mission is to protect and promote human rights around the world. 

The “MUNners Erudiction” where our DAVites ( Alumni and present MUNners) presented an incredible video expressing their love and learning experiences as they grabbed every opportunity to participate in the Model United Nations.

The MUNs have given an immense boost f confidence to every MUNner and made everyone proactive and enhanced the knowledge of worldly affairs. The peaceful decorum of the committees of the UN, has proven every MUN to be a joy, cherished for the years to come.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Haripriya K.P. of IX-E, followed by the Shanti Paat by Aashika K of IX D.
