PONGAL CELEBRATIONS

Pongal the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu was celebrated with great joy and fanfare at D.A.V. Public School and via Google Meet Platform (Virtually). The festival began with invoking the blessings from Almighty by Saadhana of Class V chanting the Gayathri Mantra followed by Kaushik Ram Magesh of Class-V welcoming the gathering.

Uzhaippom Uyarvom (Hardwork leads to Growth)- a skit performed by Std. VI students highlighted the Green Revolution, threw light on the life of farmers and their hardships. The conclusion marked the joy, hope and happiness of Pongal Festival.

Amalgamation of Culture – Folk Dance was a blend of four different states on the theme of harvest festival.  The Students of Class V showed versatile talent through their dance movements. They depicted the festivity of ‘Lohri’, ‘Bhangra’, ‘Bihu’, ‘Kuchipudi’ bringing the celebration mood.

Indigenous Frolic : Class III students enlightened the audience on the significance of the first two days of festival, the Bhogi and Pongal. Students mesmerised everyone with their Multilingual speech in the background along with the presentation which was followed by the spectacular  dance that highlighted the joyous spirit of the festival.

Rhythm Divine – The graceful dance by Class IV students entertained the audience. The popular song and dance added excitement, showed the gratitude to the cattle on Mattu Pongal and the jubilation of the farmers on Kannum Pongal .

The final highlight of the programme was sweet delicious, aromatic Pongal dish cooked in the traditional way at our School premises.  It gave an opportunity for students to learn our culture and traditions.

Our Principal Ma’am appreciated the technical prowess of all the participants and greeted everyone on this joyous occasion.
