CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

The Christmas cheer rang in at D.A.V. Public School, Velachery, Chennai on 24th December, 2021 with the sixth graders hosting the Celebration.

The Celebration lit up the Google meet and the School’s Official Youtube Channel.

The customary Gayatri Mantra chanted by Sreenanda of VI A marked the auspicious beginning of the programme. It was followed by the formal welcome by Varsha of class VI B.

The Christmas tradition of lighting the candles on the Advent Wreath represented the spiritual preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ, The Principal, Supervisory- in-charges and teachers lit the candles with the background score of “A candle is burning, A candle of light”.

‘Trinket’ a skit by class VI explained in detail the making of decorative items used during the Christmas season. Students creatively used natural materials and also recyclable and other utility articles.

 Students of class VII demonstrated a sumptuous spread of “Christmas Feast” with mouthwatering recipes and cuisines. Jessica Christy of VII D  prepared a cake to add extra flavour to the Celebrations.

The importance of Christmas Symbols used during the festivities and decor like the wreath, stocking, candy cane, angels, gifts and many more were beautifully enacted by the students of class VIII in the form of a dance- “The Alchemy of Christmas”.

The entry of the all-time Children’s favourite Santa Claus echoed squeals of laughter and loud applause. His exuberant dance and the beat of  Jingle Bells had the joyous audience swaying and singing along to the peppy music.

“Our Epiphany- A Musical Chronicle” -  depicted the story of Jesus Christ. The students of classes IX to XI conceptualised a short film with some of the significant episodes from the Bible to bring to light the reason why God took human form. The joyous choristers stole the hearts of the audience with their mellifluous Carol singing. The teachers also came together in “Silent Night, Holy Night” to spread joy and warmth. 

The programme concluded with Mrithulika proposing the Vote of Thanks and Grisha Das chanting the Shanti Paat.

The hour-long programme created a festive mood spreading joy, happiness and oneness among everyone.
