WORLD OZONE DAY
D.A.V. Public School, Velachery observed the World Ozone Day on 20th September 2021 via Google Meet Platform which was live streamed on YouTube. This Virtual Celebration of the academic year 2021 was hosted by the students of Class Tenth. The programme revolved around the theme- ‘Montreal Protocol- Keeping us, our food and vaccines cool’.
The eventful day commenced with the divine Gayathri Mantra followed by a soulful rendition of sloka, prayer to shield Mother Earth from harmful rays. The Significance of observing Ozone Day and the theme for the celebration of this year’s Ozone Day was enunciated by Hema.C of Class X in the Introduction Speech.
‘Ozone- Nature’s Sunscreen’ was the display of eye catchy delineations and paintings by the sixth graders to create awareness on how to prevent ozone depletion. The ‘Dance Drama- Heal the World’ by the seventh graders depicted the Earth’s damage due to ozone depletion and about the Montreal Protocol to protect the earth’s ozone layer through their captivating dance movements.
‘Ozone for Life – In our Hands’ was an Awareness Show by the students of Eighth graders exhibited the responsibility of protecting the life shield, Ozone layer. ‘The Throne Zone’- Graphic Novel by Class IX students highlighted the importance of Ozone, the natural protecting shield of our earth and the way to safeguard the Ozone layer.
‘All about Ozone’ – Documentary Video by the tenth graders threw light on the scientific events and facts on Ozone. Project Display – An Interdisciplinary, Investigatory Project Presentation on the impact of ozone depletion by the eleventh and twelfth graders was an eye opener on the hazardous effects of ultra violet radiation and the ways to shield earth from the harmful rays.
The ‘Ozone Pledge’ was administered by the D.A.V family in unison for the preservation of the Ozone layer by resolving to use Ozone friendly goods and control the emission of Ozone Depleting Substances.
The programme concluded with Vote of thanks and Shanti Paat.
