ANNUAL SPORTS DAY - 2019-2020

The Annual Sports Day - 2019-2020 of our School, was held on 11^th January , 2020 at Pavilion Ground, YMCA, Nandanam, Chennai-35.

Ms. Sharadha Narayana, Deputy Chief Ticket Inspector, Southern Railways presided over the Inaugural Ceremony. In her address, she emphasized the importance of Sports mental well being and reiterated that physical activity in one form or the other is good for emotional balance and agility of the body. She urged the students to take up Athletics or other sporting events and  bring laurels to the  nation. She also encouraged the parents to support their children to pursue Sports as a career.

The Opening Ceremony witnessed the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and the vibrant, energetic March Past by the  Four Houses- Vasant, Greeshma, Sharad and Hemant to the thumping music and rhythmic drum beats.

Physical Directors from other Schools were invited to gauge the March Past contingents. HEMANT HOUSE was adjudged  the Best March Past Contingent.

The traditional 'Lighting of the Olympic Torch' and 'Oath Taking' by the Champions of  D.A.V.P.S awakened the sportsman spirit in all the sports enthusiasts.

ROLL A BOOSTER - a Flamboyant Drill weaved by the students of Std. VII was a breathtaking amalgamation of  Aerobics Manifesting colourful maneuvering of Balls  and spectacular Formations including  1) 150 - THE BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF MAHATMA GANDHI     2)  D.A.V.P.S.      3) BUTTERFLY.

The spectators thoroughly enjoyed a lot of frenzied activity as the Finals of the 100 mts, 200 mts and 4x 100 mts Relay were conducted.

Dr. K. Vaithianathan, Director, Sports, SRM University, Kattankulathur,  presided over this Valedictory Ceremony.

In his address, he stressed on the significance of Sports in keeping one hale and healthy and also keeping diseases at bay. He appreciated the Parents and Grandparents for their enthusiasm and urged them to identify the sporting potential in their wards.. He added that Sports is not meant merely for competition and awards but to enjoy life and inculcate values both ‘on’ and ‘off’ the field.

The Victorious Vasant House lifted the enviable Overall Championship Trophy and relished the Victory lap.  Dr. K. Vaithianathan decorated the Individual Champions.
