INDIA INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FESTIVAL 2017

 

Our School participated in the prestigious "India International Science Festival (IISF-2017)" on 05.10.2017 held at Periyar Science and Technology Centre. A Science Exhibition was conducted for the school children in two levels on the topic "Oceans for the Society".  A total of 120 models were on display. Three teams from our School displayed three models, based on the given theme with one model each spread over the 2 levels Level - 1 (VII - IX) Level - 2 (X to XII). The students who displayed the models were:

Level - 1 : Atul Joseph Philip - IX A, Satvik Gorti - IX A

Level - 2 : Prathiksha Murugavel - XI B, Pranav Balaji - XI B,

               Aashritha - XII A, Nishitha Saraswathi - XII A

The models brought out  how oceans are beneficial to the society. Students explained various factors like generation of electricity using tidal energy, desalination of water, production of aquatic species like lobsters using tissue culture and so on. The participants were able to answer all the questions raised by the judges very confidently. It was a good learning ground for the students.

Prathiksha Murugavel and Pranav Balaji of Std. XI B were adjudged to receive the "Good Award" certificates for their innovative project on "Oceans for the Society".

The prize distribution ceremony was conducted on 07.11.2017 at Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Chennai. Dr. Ramakrishnan, Director IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research), Trivandrum gave an insight on Raman Spectroscopy and about the achievements of Sir C.V. Raman in the field of Physics and Research. He also shared information about the courses open at IISER, Trivandrum for the students interested in Research and Science.

After the lecture the Chief Guest distributed the 'Good Award' certificates to participants for their innovative project display.
