NATIONAL LITERACY DAY

National Literacy Day is a significant annual event celebrated to raise awareness about the importance of literacy and education. This year, on September 8th, 2023, a vibrant and inspiring celebration took place at D.A.V Public School hosted by Class X. The event aimed to highlight the significance of literacy in individual lives and societal development.

The celebration commenced with the rendition of the DAV Gaan and the recitation of the Gayatri Mantra. S.Bavya and Sanchitha Patra took the positions of Masters of Ceremony. Sharen Deepti and Sahana V extended a gracious welcome to the gathering.  Tejal N.M. delivered a concise introduction about National Literacy Day to the audience.

The Three Eras of Indian Education “Students of Class VIII creatively showcased the evolution of the Indian education system over three distinct eras: before 1947, between 1950 – 2000, and after 2000. They skillfully portrayed the differences in these periods using informative placards and emphasized the key aspects of the National Educational Policy.

Melodies of Literacy was a captivating performance put on by the talented students of Class VI. They delivered a beautiful song that eloquently conveyed the profound importance of literacy and education. Through their melodious voices and heartfelt lyrics, the students effectively communicated the transformative power of knowledge and the role that literacy plays in shaping a brighter future for individuals and society as a whole.

Malala’s Magic Pencil – Students of Class V conducted an interview with Malala Yousafzai, where Shreyansi Anand portrayed her, and Aditya Singh was the interviewer, Malala shared her inspiring life journey, emphasizing her commitment to education and girls’ right to learn. To promote literacy, the students led a lively ‘sing-along’ session celebrating the joy of reading and its transformative magic.

Students of Class VII had an exclusive ‘Knowledge Quest’, an inquisitive quiz session centered on the exclusive theme of 2023: ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition – Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies.

‘Empowering Minds through Literacy’ - Urban Rhapsody – Students of Class X presented an awareness programme addressing ‘Child Labour’, ensuring the ‘Right to Education’, Promoting  the  ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign, and enforcing ‘The Prohibition of Child Marriage Act’.

‘Yearning for Learning’ – Students of Class IX delivered an exclusive message on the significance of literacy through their synchronized dance performance set to the iconic Hindi song ‘Likna Hai Padna Hai’.

The program culminated with an expression of gratitude through the Vote of Thanks, paying homage to our beloved motherland, and a heartfelt prayer for the establishment of Universal Peace
