INTER - SCHOOL CULTURAL FEST ON 08.07.2023 (Saturday)
The Annual One Day Inter - School Cultural Fest - AGE, Acronym for Avant Garde Essence-2023 was hosted by D.A.V. Public School, Velachery, Chennai on 08th July,2023 in the School Premises. A Swarm of Student Competitors from 21 C.B.S.E. Schools, Student Spectators of the Host School from Classes VIII to X, Volunteers of Std XI and XII and Teachers cherished the day long fun, frolic and healthy competition after a hiatus of 3 Years.
The Inaugural Ceremony was presided over by Padma Bhushan, Kalaimamani, Madurai, Shri T.N Seshagopalan, Veteran Musician and Classical Music Vidhwan. The Connoisseur was thrilled to interact with the lively students and sang the most popular and relevant Mahakavi Bharathiyar’s “Odi Villayadu Paappa” for the young learners to imbibe the values desired for the Millennial. The Bilingual address speckled with his stunning voice enraptured the students and others alike.
12 Events tested a medley of skills ranging from Oratory to Foot-work, Quizzing to Agility and Guessing Personalities to Cubism and had the Participants vying for the top berth and the coveted prizes.
The Valedictory Ceremony was adorned with the gracious presence of Indian Music Composer, Shri. Karthik Raja. In his address, he said that participation is as essential as Excellence because both happen as an Individual’s choice and he said, ‘Students are born with some talent and it has to be identified early and nurtured all along’. He invited student volunteers to sing a few lines and to everyone’s dismay hordes of Students, Judges and teachers too lent their voices to lighten up the impromptu moment.
The Prize Distribution Ceremony was the Cynosure of the Evening. The contestants waited with bated breath to hear their names pronounced and when they did, it was screams and cries of joy that resonated the D.A.V.P.S. grounds. Apex Pon Vidyashram, Madipakkam lifted the Overall Winning Championship Trophy, while Velammal Vidyashram, Surapet and Sunshine Chennai Senior Secondary School, Puzhuthivakkam were the First and Second Runner Up respectively for their highest consolidated tally of points in all the events.
The One Day Event was a Smash Hit and a day to be etched for both the invitees and the organisers. The Camaraderie and Knowledge everyone carried home surpassed the spirit of competition and the urge to win.
