The ITC group of companies has embarked on a sustainable venture to minimise the recyclable waste that finds its way into marts and open grounds that not only quells its value but also becomes a hazard to the environment.

This novel programme – WOW, is the acronym for Wealth Out of Waste and emphasises on the best use of biodegradable products.

Students of Std. I to XII were encouraged to join the crusade of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’.  Loads of old newspapers, swelling bags of old magazines, unused notebooks and books found their way onto the sturdy weighing scales.

This venture has inspired students to treat paper waste with great care.  Classrooms have become litter free.  Unused papers and shredded papers too find their way into special corners meant for the ‘WOW donation’.

A special offer was made to the good will ambassadors of a greener, cleaner environment.  Each student ‘donor’ was awarded special eco friendly stationery in exchange for the recyclable waste.  A few of them who magnanimously carried a sizeable amount of more than 15 kgs are being honoured with ‘Green Certificates’.  These certificates will stand testimony of their contribution for a safer environment.

This programme has largely sensitized the entire D.A.V family about keeping our environment ‘clutter and litter free’ and curbing our deeds of choking mother Earth.
