ASTRONOMY DAY CELEBRATION
The Astronomy Club of our School organised a "Two-day Astronomy Expo" to mark the Astronomy Day that was observed on 28th and 29th June 2019. The Club in collaboration with SPACE, the Organisers of the Astronomy Club, celebrated the day with great passion and scientific fervour.
ASTRONOMY DAY is celebrated with an aim to showcase the talents of the budding ‘astronomers’ and to exhibit the knowledge they have acquired after the year-long activities taken up during 2018–19. One hundred and thirty six students representing KRITHIKA, ROHINI, SWATI and MODULE-1 demonstrated various activities and captivated the viewers.
The Expo was inaugurated by the Academic Coordinator, Ms. Rema Devi and was assisted by Ms. Sujatha. M, the Supervisory-in-charge. The formal inauguration of the Expo was marked by the launch of a miniature hydrorocket into space. Around 17 exhibits were on display for live demonstrations. The highlights of the activities were Hydrorocketry, Make Your Own Comet, Spectroscopy and Fun with DSLR.
Students of Std. VI–XII had the privilege of visiting the Exhibition and participating in the activities. The demonstrations by the club members left the onlookers spellbound and the scientifically tempered seeking for more!
Special invitation was extended to the parents of Std. VI–XII who thronged the Expo on the second day. They engaged themselves in visiting the stalls, enjoying the activities demonstrated by the club members and a few actively involved themselves in raising queries. The parents applauded the School and Management for arranging the wonderful show and also expressed their special gratitude to the Principal for inspiring their wards through these kinds of educational melas.
The Club Members had a wonderful learning experience and were delighted to have learnt new skills and explored a new terrain with professional guidance and mentoring.
The Celebration culminated with the Valedictory Ceremony during which the Club Members were honoured with "Amateur Astronomer" certificates for completing the course.
The School congratulates the young astronomers and wishes them Years of Success ahead!
