Reading is important in everyone's life, especially  for young children. Reading exposes our mind to a variety of information which kindles our curiosity and arouses a desire to learn more.

'National Reading Day' was celebrated in D.A.V. Public School, Velachery, Chennai on 23rd January, 2019. It is an annual event which encourages young children to read.

The young bibliophiles of Std. III made a colourful formation of the word 'READ' in the assembly ground, with the 4 distinctive houses - Vasant (Green) , Greeshma (Red), Sharad (Yellow) and Hemant (Blue)- and ardently read their favourite books.

Inculcating a passion for reading was the centre of focus. Students were asked to bring a book of their choice, which they read with great enthusiasm during the allotted reading time.

Teaching and Non Teaching faculty members avidly took part in the reading activity and spurred the students to read effectively.

This interesting activity kindled a  passion for reading in the minds of the Young Readers.
