Annual Day Celebrations 2017-18The 28th  Annual Day Celebrations of D.A.V.  Public School, Velachery, Chennai- 600 042 was held on 13th October , 2017 at Kamaraj Arangam, Teynampet, Chennai- 600006.

Shri. Prabodh Mahajan, Vice President, D.A.V.C.M.C, New Delhi and Chairman, Schools's Local Managing Committee presided over the Annual Day Celebrations.

Smt. Seetha Kiran, Regional Director, D.A.V. Institutions, Telangana Zone and Manager, D.A.V. P.S Chennai, Members of the Local Managing Committee and Principals from D.A.V.  Schools, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam also graced the grand celebration.

In the Keynote Address, School’s Chairman Shri. Prabodh Mahajan, stressed upon the contribution rendered by the Arya Samaj in the field of Education and several Social upliftment activities. He urged  the parents and students to follow the life of an Arya, avoid all vices and take to self  reflection and yoga. He added that education without character building is futile. Education should make us a good professional and also a good human being. He also expressed his concern over the growing incidents of violence, environmental pollution and gadget addiction saying 'going back to the vedas' is the cure to a harmonious society.

School’s Manager, Smt. Seetha Kiran, welcomed the gathering.

Mrs. Minoo Aggarwal, Founder Principal  and Regional Director, A.P. Zone I presented the Annual Report of 2016- 17 and announced the School Results of Std. X and Std. XII conducted by C.B.S.E in March, 2017.

The Achievements of the School, Staff and students were shared with the august gathering through a Power Point Presentation. Students achievements in Culturals, Sports, Science Projects and many more was indeed a visual treat.

The Dignitaries honoured the student achievers of Std. X and XII who came out with flying colours in the March, 2017 Board Examination.

Staff Members with meritorious and dedicated service and outstanding results were felicitated during the Function.

Best Outgoing Student  Award  was presented to Gowtham .S  for Academic Excellence,

Kalpalathikaa .M for Excellence in Co-Scholastic Pursuits and Swarna .S for Excellence in Sports.

"Nritya Sangamam" and "Tamil Varnangal" were exquisite dance performances in the classical and folk genres.

"Dance Till You Drop", a peppy, western dance had the audience rejoicing in the spirit of "HAPPY".

"Digital Chakravyuh", a powerful Mime drew the attention of the audience to the ravages of the mobile phone on youngsters' life.

"Sons Of  The Soil"  brought to light the woes of the farmers and their struggles against natural calamities, deficit monsoon and Real Estate agents.

"Soul Of Women" was a poignant portrayal of the hardships a woman has to face in a male dominant society but comes out triumphantly in all walks of life.

"We Can", a heart rending dance recital conveyed a strong message of treating the specially abled with equality and respect.

The special highlight of the Cultural Extravaganza was "Fragile Flora" - a Shadow Play with human body and objects.

The Cultural Extravaganza - "RESPLENDENCE 2017" was an amalgamation of scintillating dance recitals and concepts based on issues plaguing the society  in the current times.
